| On June 30, 2007 AzNET Project has been officially closed.

In June 2007 Project was officially closed, activities suspended, and all project equipment has been passed from UNDP to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. At the last Steering Committee meeting both Minister of Education and Minister of Communications and Information Technologies have agreed and came to common position on the need to further support the project, since AzNET have developed valuable and very important capacity both from technical and human resources points of view, that are crucial and needed for smooth integration of ICT in education.

The introduction of the Information technologies in the education
system of Azerbaijan will be duscussed during the 2nd Forum of Azeri
students, studying in Europe, to be held on May 14-16, Brussels.
During the forum, organized by the assistance of the Minsitry of
Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Azeri Embassy
in Brussels, a session on the "ICT Introduction in the Education
System of Azerbaijan" topic will be held.

| Information security is strengthened in Azerbaijan |

CERT Team was created within the framework of AzNET/CERT project.
First "Computer Emergency Response Team" (CERT) operates in Azerbaijan.
CERT team was created with the financial assistance of NATO Science
Program in the framework of "Internet Access and Infrastructure
Development for research, educational and civil society development
purposes" project of the Ministry of Communications and Information
Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNDP.

| Computer trainings are held for youth. |

Computer trainings, envisaged for designers, young artists, NGOs
and students, were launched by the "Youth Initiative" of UNDP/AzNET
Project on March 24 and would continue till April 15, 2007.
The main goal of these trainings' organization is the preparation
of highly qualified staff for the high technologies field of the
Republic of Azerbaijan which is considered as a second priority

On October 19, 2006 in the Baku State University (BSU) was held
the ceremony of opening of Cisco Networking Academy. The new Academy
was founded within the framework of CISCO Regional Networking Academy
acting within the joint project implemented by the Ministry of Communications
